Hi Jenni, I bet your house looks lovely but I can understand how hard it was doing it with just the two children. We have got the boxes down from the loft but I haven't opened them yet. I do like the house when it is decorated but I can't really be bothered doing it! (Scrooge!). I'll probably do a bit each day.

I felt like you Doreen but my 8 year old was up at 6.30 to open his advent calendar and asking to put the tree up by 8! I realise I am so lucky Jenni. I'm sure Bernice will love the decorations. Take care.

Traditionally, If I had been home in South Wales thirty years ago we would only have Holly and Mistletoe as decorations. Most older people would have two celebrations. One for Children ie presents etc etc and the other (main) including Dinner on the 25th to celebrate the Winter Solstice .
Now though things have changed and everything is commercialised and tacky. I can still remember being overawed by having a Cadbury's selection box, Satsuma's and nuts as presents on the 25th.
It was also the only day in the year when my father and uncle both smoked cigars. That smell hung round for weeks after. I was also allowed a glass of watered down home made Elderberry wine.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Our decorations go up the weekend before Christmas. If they go up too soon I get really fed up with them. But I love Christmas, as does my daughter (she's 37) and we're both very excited already

Our decorations go up a week before- usually when school has finished for the hols and I can get into the mood. I love Christmas too- we don't have kids but I still enjoy it all and have built up our own traditions over the year . I always buy one new bauble for the tree each year. It has to be a traditional glass one. I've also got all my mum's and my in laws tree decorations, many of which are older than me.I love lots of candles -they create a wonderful atmosphere when it's cold and dark outside. The house always seems so empty though once everything is taken down.
